UNSoc's Education Committee is dedicated to providing high school incursions and excursions that empower students to engage in Model United Nations (MUN). Our flagship programs, DiscoverMUN and MUNiS, aim to introduce students to the world of MUN, ensuring that those who might not otherwise have the opportunity can experience the excitement and educational benefits it offers. Join us in inspiring the next generation of global leaders!
DiscoverMUN
DiscoverMUN is our annual high school conference, where we invite a range of schools from around NSW to participate in a simulation of the United Nations Committee Meeting. Students take on the role of national diplomats for the day and debate with other students on prominent, real-world issues of today.
We welcome all schools and students to join, regardless of Model UN experience, as the event gives students a first look at what working with the UN is like, as well as giving them the opportunity to become global citizens.
Most recently, our DiscoverMUN 2026 event hosted over 320 students from 24 schools, including 9 Gateway-partner schools. In this year's edition, students debated issues such as the impact of increased border control on refugees and the role nations should play in protecting displaced people.

MUNiS

The Model United Nations in Schools (MUNiS) program is our annual initiative where we travel to different schools throughout Term 4 and host one-day Model United Nations workshops. We have a team of experienced mentors who oversee the program and engage with students to build important public speaking and 'Model UN' skills in a fun, engaging and inspiring environment. Just like DiscoverMUN, the MUNiS experience is extended to all schools across NSW.
During the day, we simulate a full Model UN committee, where students learn to craft an opening statement, practise debating skills, and work together to draft and vote on their own resolutions. This year, we are expecting to visit 20 schools across the state.
If you're experienced in MUNs and are interested in helping us run these programs, or you're interested in participating in one of these programs as a student or as a school, feel free to reach out through our Contact Us page!
